District 196 is proud to welcome Kristine McGuire as the next principal at Woodland Elementary School in Eagan. Currently serving as principal in Belle Plaine, Mrs. McGuire will replace Principal Lisa Carlson, who has led Woodland for the last 19 years and is retiring at the end of the school year.

“I am thrilled to join District 196 and the Woodland Elementary community, where every child is valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their highest potential,” Mrs. McGuire said. “Woodland’s commitment to academic excellence, strong relationships, and the development of well-rounded individuals aligns deeply with my own beliefs as an educator. I look forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to provide joyful, meaningful learning experiences that help every child grow, collaborate, create, and thrive.”

Mrs. McGuire brings 17 years of experience in education. She currently serves as principal at Chatfield Elementary in Belle Plaine and previously served as assistant principal at Cherry View Elementary in Lakeville. Prior to her administrative roles, she was a dean of students and classroom teacher in Shakopee, MN. She also held teaching positions in Fargo and Lisbon, ND. During her classroom teaching time she taught first, second, and third grades.

“We are excited to welcome Kristine into District 196,”  said Superintendent Michael Bolsoni. “She is a relationship-driven administrator and systems thinker. She brings a positive mindset, promotes collaboration, and has high expectations for students and staff. In Kristine, I believe people will find someone who genuinely cares about students, makes connections, and will be visible and approachable for all. She is open to new ideas and will build systems to ensure lasting results.”

Mrs. McGuire has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Valley City State University (ND), a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Sciences from North Dakota State University, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Her new position begins July 1, 2025.
