Voters Approve District 196 Technology Capital Projects Levy
Renewal and increase will provide more than $15.4 million annually for technology through 2035
ROSEMOUNT, Minn. – Voters in District 196 on Tuesday approved the District’s technology levy renewal and increase during a special election held in conjunction with the Regular School Board Election. Voters also affirmed the District’s governance direction by electing four incumbents to continue their service on the Board. The results were consistent with all 14 school district precincts affirming the technology levy and the School Board incumbents.
The single-question referendum was approved by a margin of 12,370 Yes votes (68%) to 5,823 No votes (32%). The funding will be used for digital learning, classroom and building technology, strong cybersecurity, reliable networks, and communication systems, technology support and maintenance, and preparing students for high-tech careers.
“We are so thankful to our community. This vote is a renewal of a commitment made in 2015 to provide every student access to digital learning and tools to explore high-tech careers for the future,” said Superintendent Michael Bolsoni. “Even more, our community demonstrated overwhelming support for our outstanding educators and our mission of inspiring our students for lifelong success. We are so grateful for this vote of confidence and investment in the future.”
Tuesday’s election marks the continuation of a process that began more than a decade ago with a focus on teaching and learning: accessing and analyzing information; innovating, creating and publishing, and collaborating and communicating.
