Announcing Westview Elementary Principal
Donzell Dixson

Mr. Donzell Dixson

District 196 has selected Donzell Dixson as the next principal at Westview Elementary School (Apple Valley). He succeeds Principal Tami Staloch-Schultz, retiring after 38 years of service to the students, families, and staff in Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public Schools.

Mr. Dixson is a dedicated and dynamic educational leader with a strong foundation in both school administration and corporate analytics. As assistant administrator at Greenleaf Elementary School for the last three years, Mr. Dixson has demonstrated a strategic and student-centered approach to fostering academic excellence, supporting staff development, and building a positive school culture.

“I am honored to step into the role as principal at Westview Elementary School. Throughout my time in District 196, I’ve had the privilege of working with so many talented and dedicated individuals. I’m genuinely excited to continue that journey with the staff, students, and families in the Westview community,” Mr. Dixson said. “Westview has a strong foundation, a vibrant community, and a staff deeply committed to student success. I am excited to work alongside staff and build upon the incredible work they’ve already begun.

Mr. Dixson’s journey to educational leadership was inspired while working at Target Corporation, where he held several high-impact roles, including senior business analyst and software developer. He led data-driven initiatives, built performance dashboards, and improved operational efficiencies. His business acumen enhances his ability to manage school budgets, use data to drive instructional practices, and lead with a systems-thinking mindset.

As creator of the Target Tech Experience, Mr. Dixson partnered with schools and teachers across the Twin Cities to deliver STEM workshops and professional developments aimed at expanding access to technology and career pathways for students. He led a cross-functional team of engineers, analysts, and executives to bring real-world science, technology, and math exposure into classrooms, bridging the gap between industry and education. As opportunities with students and teachers increased, he decided to pursue a master's degree in education and joined District 196 in 2022.

“Donzell is a listener and bridge-builder, with a strong focus on relationships,” said Superintendent Michael Blosoni. “He brings calm to difficult situations and joy to celebrations. In addition to his skills with data-driven decision-making, he understands that the principal role requires a presence and visibility, being in classrooms, at events, and connecting with the community. He is passionate about cultivating a positive, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment where students and educators can thrive.”

Mr. Dixson holds an Educational Specialist degree,  K-12 principal licensure and a Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, as well as a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance from Michigan Technological University.
