Introducing Southview Elementary Principal
Sara Stratton

Sara Stratton

District 196 is proud to introduce Sara Stratton as principal at Southview Elementary School in Apple Valley. She will succeed Christine Evans, who will retire at the end of this school year. Ms. Stratton is currently an elementary principal at Lino Lakes STEM School in Forest Lake Public Schools.

“I am excited to begin this journey with you all,” Ms. Stratton said. “Southview has a strong tradition of high academic standards, outstanding student achievement and a focus on developing the whole child. With 13 years of experience in education, I’m passionate about creating a school culture where relationships come first, and where every student and staff member feels valued, supported, and empowered to grow.”

“Sara impressed us with her energy, approachability, and commitment to collaboration and shared leadership,” Superintendent Michael Blosoni said. “She believes relationships are the heart of every school. She is student-centered and will be highly visible throughout the school. Finally, as an experienced principal, she has demonstrated excellence in instructional leadership, positive behavior interventions and support (PBIS), WIN time, and using data to inspire meaningful improvement.”

An active, playful educator, Ms. Stratton began her career as a physical education teacher and program coordinator for Playworks Minnesota in Minneapolis before joining the Forest Lake Area Schools a decade ago. In addition to teaching elementary physical education at Forest Lake Elementary, she was a Title I behavior specialist, wellness coordinator, and MTSS team member. In 2018, she became the dean of students at Forest Lake High School, leading PBIS, restorative practices, and school equity initiatives. She was promoted to high school assistant principal and later accepted the principalship at Lino Lakes Elementary STEM School in 2022.

Ms. Stratton earned her Bachelor of Science in physical education from Northwest Missouri State (MO) and a Master of Education in educational leadership and K12 administration licensure through Bethel University. She will start her new position on July 1.
