Echo Park Elementary School Receives National Award

Echo Park Elementary School of Leadership, Engineering, and Technology has earned the President’s Award from Magnet Schools of America, which recognizes it as one of the nation’s top three magnet schools for excellence in academics, innovation, and community engagement.

"This award is an incredible honor for our entire school community,” said Principal Logan Schultz. “It is a reflection of the dedication of our educators, the remarkable accomplishments of our students, and the strong, ongoing partnership we share with our families.”

This year, Magnet Schools of America received 586 applications from schools across the country for its merit awards program. From this impressive pool, Echo Park was placed in the top-tier category, moving forward to a virtual interview and ultimately earning a site visit—an honor granted to only nine schools nationwide.

“To receive the President’s Award is both humbling and inspiring,” Schultz added. “It affirms our deep commitment to academic excellence, closing opportunity and achievement gaps, and providing inclusive, engaging learning experiences through our magnet themes of leadership, engineering, and technology.”

The President’s Award is the third-highest honor given by Magnet Schools of America and is bestowed on behalf of all current and past presidents of the organization. It recognizes schools that exemplify innovation, equity, diversity, academic excellence, and strong family and community partnerships.

“Congratulations to the entire Echo Park community—this recognition belongs to all of us,” said Schultz.
