District 196 students qualify for state DECA and BPA business competitions

More than 200 District 196 high school students qualified to compete at state business conferences that will be held in March.

The Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) is an international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service. 

The DECA state qualifying event was held in January. Business Professionals of America (BPA) is a cocurricular organization for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields. The BPA state qualifying competition was held in January. Top finishers at the state competitions will earn spots at the DECA International Career Development Conference April 27-30 in Anaheim, and the BPA National Leadership Conference May 10-14 in Chicago.
