ROSEMOUNT, MN — Students from District 196 delivered a powerhouse performance at the 2026 Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) State Speech Tournament. Representing Apple Valley, Eastview, Eagan, and Rosemount High Schools, these talented orators secured multiple individual state championships and a premier team trophy, cementing the District’s reputation as a leader in communication and performing arts.
State Tournament Championship Results
District 196 students dominated the podium across several categories, highlighted by a 2nd Place Overall Team finish for Apple Valley High School. Eastview High School placed 4th overall as a team.
Individual State Champions:
- Tess Douma (Eastview HS): State Champion, Humorous Interpretation
- Rohan Saarang (Eastview HS): State Champion, Extemporaneous Speaking
- Ngel Omot (Eagan HS): State Champion, Serious Interpretation of Poetry

- Maab Mohamed Ali (Apple Valley HS): State Runner-up, Informative Speaking
- Hamdi Mohamed (Apple Valley HS): State Runner-up, Serious Interpretation of Poetry
- Aleena Ibrahim (Eastview HS): State Runner-Up, Great Speeches
- Iman Mohamed (Apple Valley HS): 3rd Place, Original Oratory
- Amilia Ugas (Apple Valley HS): 3rd Place, Serious Interpretation of Prose
- Ansell Roshin (Rosemount HS): 3rd Place, Extemporaneous Reading
MSCA 2026 All-State Speech Team Honors
In addition to the tournament results, the Minnesota Speech Coaches Association (MSCA) has named 127 students to the 2026 All-State Speech Team. District 196 is proudly represented by 21 seniors who met the rigorous criteria for this honor, including documented competitive excellence and significant community leadership.
District 196 All-State Honorees:
- Apple Valley High School: Maab Mohamed Ali, Iman Mohamed, Yonatan Samuel, Hanna Husen, Isra Yasin, Anna Netto.
- Eagan High School: Olivia Groebner, Nabiha Kashif, Zoe Melakie, Sritha Palagiri, Ngel Omot, Hiba Rahman, Saanvi Seth, Anokhi Shah, Dina Simon.
- Eastview High School: Tess Douma, Nina Galindez, Kayla Griglak, Rohan Saarang, Matthew Vengal, Louis Spiegelberg.
The All-State winners were celebrated during the state tournament on April 24-25 at Park Center High School. District 196 congratulates these students on their remarkable achievements and their dedication to the art of public speaking.
