District 196 hires Mary Langworthy as new health services coordinator

District 196 Superintendent Mary Kreger announced the hiring of Mary Langworthy as the new

health services coordinator for the district. She replaces Deb Mehr, who retired this year after a 20-year career in District 196, the last seven as health services coordinator. Langworthy will begin in her new position Oct. 23.

Langworthy has more than 25 years of experience in nursing, including 13 in public education. Most recently, she was the director of health and wellness for Saint Paul Public Schools. As health services coordinator for District 196, Langworthy will be responsible for providing leadership and support for school nurses to ensure a comprehensive, effective and sustainable health services program that enhances student learning across the district.  

“District 196 is well known for excellence in education and the opportunities provided to students,” Langworthy said. “I look forward to building strong relationships to support efforts that are student-centered and improve health outcomes for all students in District 196. I'm excited to apply my skills and experience to contribute to the great work that's already happening.”

Langworthy has a bachelor of science degree in nursing and a minor in child development from North Dakota State University and a master’s in education with an emphasis on mental health practice in schools from the University of Missouri. She is also nationally certified as a school nurse.
