District 196 is eager to welcome Daniel Kretsinger as the new transportation coordinator, replacing Mike Turitto who retired this month. Kretsigner brings a unique combination of transportation, operations, supervisory, and business experience to the role.
“My approach to school transportation is centered on relationships, learning, and systemic development,” Dan said. “ I believe that a safe, efficient, and reliable transportation system is built on a foundation of strong partnerships—especially with our dedicated bus drivers, dispatchers, and school staff, as well as the families and broader community we serve. I am thrilled to join the District 196 Rosemont-Apple Valley-Eagan Schools team.”
Kretsinger has spent the last ten years as director of facilities and transportation for Richfield Public Schools, managing large projects and all transportation personnel. Before Richfield, he managed buildings and grounds operations in Elk River School District (2013-2015) and was the director of facilities for Grace Church in Eden Prairie (2004 - 2013). As a business owner in the early 2000’s, he ran a transportation and recovery company. He is a Certified Professional Supervisor (CPS), holds a commercial driver’s license, and has experience in safety, security, and automation with a focus on heavy equipment.
“We are facing unprecedented challenges in transportation,” stated Christopher Onyango-Robshaw. “Dan will bring a strong business acumen and management background to the position as we look to redesign some of our routing and processes for greater efficiency. District 196 has increased the number of routes needed to serve students and programs due to a 20th elementary school opening this year and growth in center-based special education enrollment. Dan’s priorities will be to focus on hiring, training and routing efficiencies.”
Kretsinger will start on Dec. 15.
