2025 State Community Educator of Excellence Award Winner

Rosemount, Minn – The Minnesota Community Education Association (MCEA) is thrilled to announce Khia Bruse, Community Education Director for District 196 - Rosemount-Apple Valley- Eagan Schools, as the recipient of the 2025 State Community Educator of Excellence Award. This prestigious award honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, dedication, and innovative spirit within Minnesota's community education landscape.


For more than 26 years, Khia Bruse has exemplified leadership in Community Education, visionary, collaborative, and grounded in service. Her work at Roseville Area Schools and District 196 reflects a career dedicated to empowering families, supporting staff, and expanding access to lifelong learning.


Ms. Bruse’s impact extends well beyond her own district. She mentors emerging leaders, fosters innovation, and reminds others that community education is, above all, about people. Her integrity, humor, and heart embody the collaboration and care that define excellence in our field.


A longtime MCEA leader, Bruse has served as a board member, regional representative, and secretary, and has twice co-chaired the MCEA Annual Conference. Her steady leadership, organization, and creativity have strengthened events and initiatives that unite Minnesota’s community educators. Her dedication and dynamic approach to community engagement inspire both her peers, staff and communities she so passionately serves.
