PARENT SECTION

(NEW) SENIOR PARTY CHAIRPEOPLE NEEDED

Parents of a Senior – URGENT - Since Eastview opened, we have had a strong tradition of providing a Senior Graduation Party that is hosted by the senior parents.  Currently we do not have a parent-chairperson(s) to lead the party planning.  This can put the 2020 Graduation Party in jeopardy.  In order for this party to occur we need leadership from the parents of the senior class.  This event provides our students a safe, fun and supervised evening to celebrate graduation. We are asking interested parents to contact Rob Franchino if interested (952-431-8907).  Last year’s senior parents can provide additional information to assist in the planning process for this year’s party.  Thank you in advance for volunteering and helping to sustain the Senior Party tradition for your student.

HAND SANITIZER AND FACIAL TISSUES, DONATIONS

You really are awesome, Eastview parents!!  Thank you to those who have already brought in supplies for our students.  We have had plenty of Handi wipes delivered but no hand sanitizer and just a few Kleenex.  If you are able to donate a box or two (or case) of tissues, or hand sanitizer, please have your student drop them at the lower level west doors.  As always, it is appreciated!  Thank you!

ATHLETICS

(NEW) EV BOYS CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES 8TH AT JAGUAR INVITATIONAL

The boys cross country team sent a contingent of runners to Hyland Grove Golf Course this afternoon to compete at the Jaguar challenge.

With concern for the weather rising, the race directors chose to combine the JV and varsity races into one, resulting in 550 runners, spread 70m wide, to crowd into a 2m wide path in the span of only 250m. Needless to say, getting a fast start was a necessity in today's race. This group of four runners; Ian Kenney (12th), Hunter Dunne (10th), PJ Lasota (10th), and Gabe Chambers (10th) lead the Lightning charge for the entire race. During this final 1600m, each of Kenney, Dunne, and Lasota passed nearly 30 runners to finish in 22nd, 26th, and 27th place respectively.

Behind these leaders were several runners vying to round out Eastview's top seven. Early in the race it was Lukas Larson (10th) setting the pace, with freshman Jack Hanson in tow. Further back was Max Leach, and Jacob Waschek who fought their way through a crowd of runners to continually close in on Larson and Hanson. Throughout the race this gap continually closed until, with a mad dash to the finish with 200m remaining Hanson was able to establish himself, storming away with a time of 19:41.9 to round out the top five for the Lightning. Leach finished in 19:49.8, while Waschek ran 20:15.0, neither able to match Hanson's finish.

A gaggle of runners consisting of Logan O'Neil, Charley Setterlund, Thomas Adamson, Aiden Mekonnen, and Ethan Taylor ran nearly the entire race as a large pack, all finishing within 30 sec of each other by the end of the race.

The boys finished 8th in both the JV and the varsity races. They will next be in competition next Tuesday, October 1st at the Victoria Lions Invite in Chaska.

(NEW) EASTVIEW VARSITY AND JV GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY DOES WELL AT JAGUAR INVITATIONAL

The Lightning Girls Varsity and JV squads were able to run in one large race at the Bloomington Jag invite today. Varsity was led by Miranda Kerndt in 7th place. Emily Percival and Sonja Olson were close behind.  The Varsity team finished 7th overall out of 20 teams. JV was 6th overall and were led by Darby ONeil and Abby McDevitt.

(NEW) EASTVIEW GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER FALLS TO ROSEMOUNT HIGH SCHOOL 3-0

Girls soccer falls on senior night 3-0. Shots were 17-17 between both teams.

(NEW) EASTVIEW GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS BEAT PRIOR LAKE HIGH SCHOOL 5-2

The girls played an awesome match defeating a very good Prior Lake team.

(NEW) EASTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL BEAT ROSEMOUNT HIGH SCHOOL 3-1

In a great team effort, the Lightning Varsity volleyball team won an exciting conference match over the Rosemount Irish, 3 sets to 1 tonight. After mounting a massive comeback that came up just short in the first set, the Lightning Varsity volleyball team poured it on at the start of the second and never looked back, winning the second set 25-18 and the third set 25-15. The Irish had multiple six point leads in the 4th set, but the Lightning closed the gap and took the lead near the end. After a couple of amazing rallies, the Lightning finished off the match, winning 25-23. Junior right side hitter Lauren Crowl led the offense with 16 kills and junior middle blocker Mac Dose chipped in with 9 kills and a .412 efficiency. Junior outside Emma Grimm led the team with 19 digs and 3 aces. Senior setter Hanna Anderson dished out 44 assists in the win.

Tonight's match was Fan Appreciation night, and the fans for both schools were into the match all night long. A hearty thank you goes out to the Eastview Super Fans who kept cheering and supporting all night long! Thanks for your amazing energy!

The win moves the Lightning to 4-0 in the South Suburban and extends their winning streak to five matches. The team is back in action this Thursday night when they travel to Lakeville North to take on the Panthers.

(NEW) LIGHTNING JV BOYS SOCCER STORMS TO VICTORY TUESDAY NIGHT

In his first game back after a brief ankle injury, Lightning forward Eli Hansen was hungry for victory and scored the first goal of the game against the Rosemount Irish. Eastview and Rosemount battled back-and-forth throughout the first half, but Eastview out-played the Irish and held the lead throughout the game.

After being sandwiched by Rosemount in front of the net, midfielder Sean Harris expertly picked the corner on a penalty kick to put Eastview into a 2 to 0 lead at half.

As the lightning and thunder rolled in and shortened the game, Rosemount scored 10 minutes into the second. The game was called early due to the storm, and the Lightning finished the evening with a 2 to 1 victory over Rosemount.
