MOMS & NEIGHBORS

Since its inception 10 years ago, Moms & Neighbors has raised more than $250,000 for teens and families in ISD 196.

We work closely with local school counselors, social workers, church advocates, and law enforcement. We want to be an additional tool in their tool box to provide local families or teens with the assistance they truly need, while respecting their privacy.

Assistance can range from grocery and gas gift cards, clothing, to payment of an overdue bill. Though what we give varies as much as our recipients’ needs, it is always rewarding and surprising to see how powerful an anonymous act of kindness can be.

If you are interested in helping this holiday season, click on the link or contact Angie Talbot, the Eastview Moms and Neighbors Kindness Ambassador.

(NEW) EASTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS VARSITY HOCKEY FALLS TO FARMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL 4-1 NOVEMBER 26

Last Tuesday, the girls varsity hockey team ran into a buzz saw. Farmington girls put up 33 shots and controlled the game from start to finish in a 4-1 victory. Lainey Dwinnell scored her first of the year with assists going to Natalie Bordson and Brynn Swenson. Angie Lombardi had a busy night making 29 saves for the loss. The Lightning move to 5-3 on the season and host Lakeville South Tuesday night. Come on out and make some noise!

(NEW) EASTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL BEAT HILL-MURRAY 52-27 NOVEMBER 30

The JV Girls Basketball team finished the UST tournament with a 2-0 record after beating Hill-Murray by a score of 52-27. The Lightning used a fast paced transition game to wear out the Pioneers and dominated the rebounding by a 27-16 margin. Robyn Dayton, Savanah Gardner and the 5'3" Vanessa Wright were the leading rebounders for the Lightning with 5 each. The scoring was extremely balanced with nobody reaching double figures as the points were spread throughout the entire team. Lauren Machacek led the way with 9 points followed by Madi Wodele-8, Caitlyn Han-8, Britta Hagen-6, Dayton-5, Olivia Ward-5, Wright-4, Ellie Fulford-3, Gardner-2 and Kyra Schwanz-2. The team is hoping to continue their winning streak on Tuesday when they head across the border to take on Hudson, Wisconsin.

EASTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL BEAT LACROSSE AQUINAS 66-35 NOVEMBER 29

The JV Girls Basketball team notched their 1st victory of the year on Saturday at the University of St. Thomas. The Lightning played an up tempo game, scoring most of their points in transition and keeping the BluGolds on their heels for most of the game. Aquinas tried a trapping zone but Eastview kept their cool behind the poise and leadership of Olivia Ward, Vanessa Wright and Savanah Gardner. Robyn Dayton was the leading scorer with 25 points. Lauren Machacek had a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards. Caitlyn Han was also in double figures, scoring 10. Ward and Machacek led the team in assists. Also scoring for the Lightning were Ellie Fulford, Wright, Britta Hagen, Ward and Kyra Schwanz.

(NEW) (Nov. 27) EASTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL BOYS JUNIOR VARSITY HOCKEY FALLS TO CHASKA 3-1

Eastview (0-2) couldn't generate enough offense to overcome a close game Wednesday afternoon in Chaska.  Sophomore goaltender Max Leach played well making some big saves while limiting Chaska to a single first period goal.  After killing off a five-on-three Chaska power play, EV evened things up 1-1 with an early second period goal by junior forward Max Hansen (assisted by sophomore forward Cody Domagalski).  Unfortunately, for the second time in two games, EV allowed a shorthanded goal that put Chaska up 2-1 at the end of the second period.  Chaska scored the lone third period goal with 3:43 left on the clock to seal the victory.  Next up, Eastview hosts Lakeville South on Thursday, December 5.  Puck drops at 5:00 p.m. at Apple Valley Sports Arena.

(NEW) EASTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS JUNIOR VARSITY HOCKEY TIES FARMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL 1-1 NOVEMBER 26

Eastview took the lead in the first period with a goal by Meghan Keating, assists from Erin Hayward and Meredith Droege. Farmington tied it up in the second period. No scoring in third and overtime periods. Outstanding goaltending by Paige Williams ensures the game ends in a 1-1 tie!
