PARENT SECTION

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

Please join us for Parent/Teacher Conferences this Thursday, October 10th from 5:00pm – 8:45pm and Friday, October 11th from 7:00am – 10:00am.  Conferences are drop-in format; no specific appointments are necessary.  Preview your student’s progress in Schoology, where you can see an update of their daily work.  Bring a printout of your student’s schedule (or access it on the Campus Portal app on your smartphone) and visit the teachers you wish to see.  Each conference is limited to approximately five minutes; longer discussions can be arranged with individual teachers as needed.  With multiple events taking place at EVHS on Thursday evening, parking lots will be full.  The West lots (along Flagstaff Avenue) should be your first choice, with the North lot (along 140th Street) and the Teen Center Lot (to the south off of Johnny Cake Ridge Road) as backup.  We hope to see you Thursday and/or Friday!

DATE CHANGE!  LIFETOUCH SCHOOL PHOTO RETAKE DAY

We have not yet received the Lifetouch school pictures from picture day on September 9th.  Due to this delay and to give families sufficient time to review their photos, retake day has been rescheduled to MONDAY, OCTOBER 21st during students’ English classes.  If your student is getting retakes, please bring the original photo package with them.  If you need to order photos for the first time, there are order forms in the main office or you can order online.  Eastview’s Picture ID is: EVT4WPGR3

PLAY FOR PATRICK FREE YOUTH HEART SCREENING

The Patrick Schoonover Heart Foundation is having a Play For Patrick Youth Heart Screen on Saturday, October 26th from 8-4 at Eastview High School Gym.

The screening is FREE and open to ALL KIDS ages 14-24. The screen includes Family Health History, Height/Weight, Blood Pressure, EKG, Echocardiogram, reviewing results with a physician and learning how to perform CPR & use an AED.

From August 2015 to September 2019, the Foundation conducted 19 Play for Patrick youth heart screens. Screened 3,169 kids, found 186 with elevated blood pressure (w/repeated check), 237 with abnormal electrical or structural heart defects, taught 2,887 kids & adults CPR & AED awareness and donated 9 AEDs to area schools.

Parents, please register your child.  Parents should also plan on attending the screen. You will learn about sudden cardiac arrest, learn/practice hands only CPR and how to use an AED, speak to a physician about your child’s results and be there for support.

Although the screens are free, we still have expenses to cover for equipment, supplies, insurance, etc.  We have no paid staff and rely on volunteers and donations to offer these screens.

Donations can be made at the screen, online or through our Facebook page.

Any questions please contact us.

FALL SPORTS SURVEY FOR PARENTS/ATHLETES

Attention all Fall Sport Student-Athletes and parents of all Fall Student-Athletes:  Many of our Fall sports have concluded their seasons and all of our Fall sports will be wrapping up in the coming weeks.  We ask that each student-athlete as well as parent/guardians of student-athletes take the time to fill out their survey:

Student-Athlete Survey                Parent/Guardian of Student-Athlete Survey

These anonymous surveys are also available to be filled out anytime throughout the year on the Eastview Athletics Website and provide valuable feedback to our coaching staff and athletic director as a part of the annual reflection process for each coach and program.  If you have a specific suggestion or concerns you would like to see addressed it is always recommended that you and/or your student athlete connect directly with the coach for the most immediate and individualized response.  Thanks!

THE DINING ROOM OPENS TONIGHT

Eastview Theatre presents The Dining Room as their fall play.

A.R. Gurney's Pulitzer-nominated comedy is set in a typical well-to-do household where a family assembles daily for breakfast and dinner and for any and all special occasions. The action is comprised of a mosaic of interrelated scenes that are woven together—some funny, some touching, some rueful—which, taken together, teach us a great deal about ourselves and our families. 18 scenes and 59 characters combine to create a hilarious mirror into which we can view ourselves.
