JUNIORS: ACT PREP COURSE –  REGISTRATION IS DUE BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1

Eastview High School is offering the ACT Prep Course to help you prepare for this important test.  The course provides 12+ hours of focused study in preparation for the ACT Test.  Our experienced teachers will navigate students through the ACT testing process. This year we continue our use of PREPWORKS (https://prepworks.com/) as our online support program.  Prepworks features a personalized learning path that continues long after the student completes the course.  The combined after school course and online resource will help students build confidence and skills that will boost their scores on the actual test.  The cost of the program is $180, which includes instruction, online program and testing materials.  Students may also attend the ACT Workshop sessions in February at no additional cost.  Scholarships are available for students who need financial assistance (see Larinda Hodges in Guidance).

Whether you have taken the ACT test before or you are new to the experience, we will prepare you to do your personal best.  Sophomores may attend this course; however, the online program (Prepworks) is only active through the end of the school year.  Renewal cost would be $30.

(NEW) NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT INFORMATION

Attention Student-Athletes and Families: If you are continuing to participate in athletics at the collegiate level, please read the information below:

Here is some important information regarding changes to the National Letter of Intent Signing Day process effective this year along with a new opportunity to celebrate student-athletes at EVHS who will continue competing in athletics in college at any level.

#1 Starting this year, all NCAA D1 and D2 athletes outside of football and men's and women's D1 basketball players can begin signing scholarships on November 13, 2019 and continue to sign anytime through August 1, 2020 (see the chart below for the new specifics).

#2 NAIA student athletes have no official signing date and can sign anytime during their senior year in all sports.

#3 NCAA Division III programs are not allowed to offer athletic scholarships and thus have no official signing date.

#4 NJCAA allows signings starting November 1st through 15 calendar days into the fall semester enrollment.

For those of you who will be signing official National Letters of Intent and need assistance with the process of submitting paperwork that needs to be returned to the college or university, please contact Athletics Director Matt Percival (matt.percival@district196.org) in advance.  You will want to be sure you are signing on the right date depending on the sport as well as preferences of the family and the college or university.  Usually, in addition to the National Letter of Intent, the paperwork includes a conference form as well as a school publicity questionnaire and often they will want it back as soon as possible (within the applicable date guidelines.) We are happy to assist with providing a place to sign your paperwork, scan or fax documents, answering questions etc.  This is NOT required, just an offer to help if families are interested.  Keep in mind all NCAA documents require both a student and parent signature.

In response to the new NCAA process that allows signings for many almost any day of the year, we will not have school-wide signing ceremonies at multiple times throughout the year, but instead will be offering a much larger scale opportunity to recognize all athletes in the Class of 2020 who will be continuing to compete in athletics at the collegiate level. This will not be a signing ceremony, but instead a celebration where all of our athletes competing in collegiate athletics will be recognized along with our all-school athletic department award winners.  The plan for this celebration/recognition event is to hold it in May of 2020.  The specific date, time, location and details are still being finalized and will be communicated as soon as they are available.  We are very excited for this inaugural opportunity to showcase the incredible accomplishments of so many talented student-athletes at Eastview! In addition to the new Athletic Recognition Ceremony, all students receiving a college scholarship for academics, arts, athletics or leadership in the community will continue to be recognized at our All-School Awards Ceremony in late May that takes place during the school day.

FALL SPORTS SURVEY FOR PARENTS/ATHLETES

Attention all Fall Sport Student-Athletes and parents of all Fall Student-Athletes:  Many of our Fall sports have concluded their seasons and all of our Fall sports will be wrapping up in the coming weeks.  We ask that each student-athlete as well as parent/guardians of student-athletes take the time to fill out their survey:

Student-Athlete Survey                Parent/Guardian of Student-Athlete Survey

These anonymous surveys are also available to be filled out anytime throughout the year on the Eastview Athletics Website and provide valuable feedback to our coaching staff and athletic director as a part of the annual reflection process for each coach and program.  If you have a specific suggestion or concerns you would like to see addressed it is always recommended that you and/or your student athlete connect directly with the coach for the most immediate and individualized response.  Thanks!
