JUNIORS: ACT PREP COURSE – REGISTRATION IS DUE BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1

Eastview High School is offering the ACT Prep Course to help you prepare for this important test.  The course provides 12+ hours of focused study in preparation for the ACT Test.  Our experienced teachers will navigate students through the ACT testing process. This year we continue our use of PREPWORKS (https://prepworks.com/) as our online support program.  Prepworks features a personalized learning path that continues long after the student completes the course.  The combined after school course and online resource will help students build confidence and skills that will boost their scores on the actual test.  The cost of the program is $180, which includes instruction, online program and testing materials.  Students may also attend the ACT Workshop sessions in February at no additional cost.  Scholarships are available for students who need financial assistance (see Larinda Hodges in Guidance).

Whether you have taken the ACT test before or you are new to the experience, we will prepare you to do your personal best.  Sophomores may attend this course; however, the online program (Prepworks) is only active through the end of the school year.  Renewal cost would be $30.

(NEW) EASTVIEW FALL SPORTS POSTSEASON UPDATES

Here is the latest update on our Fall Teams and how they are doing in postseason competition.

Boys Soccer: The Boys Soccer team had their incredible season come to an end last Wednesday in the State Quarterfinals vs. St. Paul Central at Chisago Lakes High School by a score of 4-1.  It was a fantastic season for the Lightning as they were SSC Champions, Section 3AA Champions and finished with a 16-3 record on the season.

Boys and Girls Cross Country: The Cross Country teams both had great days in the Section 3AA Cross Country Championships on Thursday, October 24th at Valleywood Golf Course!  The Boys team was crowned Section Champions and is STATEBOUND!  They were led by individual Section Champion AJ Green.  Here is a full recap of the boys race.

Congrats also to Coach Fusco who was named Section Assistant Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.

The girls team placed 5thout of 16 teams at the Section Tournament and had several season and career best performances including Junior Miranda Kerndt and 8th Grader Emily Percival who are both STATEBOUND as individuals!  Here is a full recap of the girls race.

The State Meet is held on Saturday, November 2nd at St. Olaf College.  The AA Girls race is at 10:00 a.m. followed by the AA Boys race at 11:00 a.m.

Volleyball: The Lightning Volleyball saw their season come to a close in a thrilling, 5 set, Quarterfinal match on Thursday to Rosemount in the very competitive Section 3AAA.  The team showed great heart and determination from beginning to end.

Girls Tennis: Sophomore Karin Young was crowned STATE CHAMPION in AA Individuals!  She defeated the two-time defending champ from Edina for the third time in three weeks to claim the crown with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.  She cruised through the state tourney field that was loaded with talent by playing some incredible tennis.  She is the first girl from Eastview to claim a State Championship in tennis!  Here are links to a couple of articles about her accomplishment:

Football: The Lightning received the #6 Seed and traveled to #3 Seed Edina on Friday night in a first round match-up.  It was clear right from the start that the Lightning had come to play.  The score was tied 13-13 at the half and the Lightning took a 19-13 lead before Edina took the lead for good 20-19 late in the game.

Girls Swim and Dive: Wrapped up their regular season on Tuesday with a win over Apple Valley that included yet another pool record for Senior Claudia Dougan.  She has had an incredible year setting several different program records.  The Section Tournament takes place at Oltman Middle School in Woodbury November 6-8.  Swim prelims are November 6 at 6:00, Diving Competition is held November 7 at 6:00 and the Swim Finals are November 8th at 6:00.  Individuals and Relays that advance to the State Meet will compete at the U of M Aquatic Center November 14-16.

CI and PI Soccer: These teams each still have two weeks remaining in their regular seasons before Sections and State!  Stay tuned for the latest Hawks updates.  The State Tournament will be held on November 22-23 at Stillwater High School.

FALL SPORTS SURVEY FOR PARENTS/ATHLETES

Attention all Fall Sport Student-Athletes and parents of all Fall Student-Athletes:  Many of our Fall sports have concluded their seasons and all of our Fall sports will be wrapping up in the coming weeks.  We ask that each student-athlete as well as parent/guardians of student-athletes take the time to fill out their survey:

Student-Athlete Survey                Parent/Guardian of Student-Athlete Survey

These anonymous surveys are also available to be filled out anytime throughout the year on the Eastview Athletics Website and provide valuable feedback to our coaching staff and athletic director as a part of the annual reflection process for each coach and program.  If you have a specific suggestion or concerns you would like to see addressed it is always recommended that you and/or your student athlete connect directly with the coach for the most immediate and individualized response.  Thanks!
