Work Experience Program

The Work Experience Seminar and Work Experience Transitional Seminar courses offer special support to students who may be experiencing significant personal, academic, financial or other difficulties.  Students selected for the program participate in a Work Experience Seminar or Transitional Seminar course (for one quarter credit each term) and up to three hours of Work-Based Learning (for a maximum of two quarter credits each term).  These are yearlong courses and students may enroll for a total of eight quarters (two full years).  Students must be enrolled in a seminar class in order to have work release hours (Work-Based Learning).

The seminar classes are designed to help students acquire knowledge and skills needed to promote personal growth and develop competencies in self-awareness, self-advocacy, student leadership, career awareness, employment readiness, interpersonal relationships, independent living, and citizenship.  The goals of the program are to increase student employability skills, develop vocational training awareness, and promote student success at Eastview High School.  Students apply informed decision-making processes to develop a career investigation portfolio and participate in real-world work experience through research, shadowing, and/or on-the-job training.
